How it all began

Our story begins over eight years ago with our founder, Benjamin , during his studies in Asia. During his stay, Benjamin quickly noticed something that intrigued him: in Asia, and especially in China, steam eye massagers were everywhere—from small street shops to luxury spas. Not as a gimmick, but as part of an age-old philosophy.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the balance between energy, tension, and relaxation plays a central role. The area around the eyes—rich in acupressure points—is considered a key area for:

  • reducing stress and mental pressure
  • improving blood circulation
  • supporting eye health during intense screen use
  • stimulating total relaxation of the nervous system

Benjamin discovered how these devices were used daily by students, professionals, and seniors. It was a combination of ancient knowledge and modern technology.

A vision takes shape

As a student from Belgium he immediately saw the potential:

"Why doesn't this exist here? Why isn't this just a standard wellness tool in Europe?"

But one thing immediately struck him: the devices available at the time were designed for a typical Asian face, with different facial proportions and cheap Chinese quality. This meant:

  • pressure points that were not always in the right place
  • a fit that was too round or too narrow
  • a user experience that could be improved

Benjamin decided he didn't just want to import any product—he wanted to create the best product for the European market . A true spa experience, at home.

The birth of PGG (and the Lunei glasses)

Back in Belgium, a development process began that ultimately led to the first version of the Lunei glasses (then still PGG).

Benjamin collaborated with other university students, such as engineers and designers, because he obviously didn't have the capital at the time. Together, they adapted the product in three crucial ways:

1. The European fit

The glasses have been given a new curve, an ergonomic design and refined padding for smaller and narrow-lined faces.

2. Advanced technology

Where other appliances only offered basic heat, Lunei today combines:

  • hot and cold steam via atomization (not just a "steam engine")
  • massage cups with acupressure technique
  • massage points for the temples
  • built-in music and (eventually) Bluetooth connection

3. Premium quality

They did not want to just deliver a cheap product quickly and always kept the principle of "people pay for quality" first.

From student room to company

Today, Lunei has grown into a thriving wellness tech company based in Antwerp, Belgium .

We continue to innovate based on the same belief:

In a screen economy, everyone deserves a moment of deep, genuine relaxation.

Our promise to you

At Lunei (and PGG), we want to do everything we can to help everyone relax at home. We understand how stressful work can be. Moreover, we live in a "screen economy" where eye relaxation has become essential.
